The Focusrite Scarlett 18i16 4th Gen is a powerful USB-C audio interface built for producers and engineers who need plenty of inputs without sacrificing sound quality. With 18 inputs and 16 outputs, it comfortably handles multi-mic sessions, outboard gear and complex monitoring setups in one compact, rack-ready unit.

Four of Focusrite's acclaimed 4th Gen mic preamps deliver clean, detailed recordings, while Auto Gain and Clip Safe take the guesswork out of setting levels. The redesigned Air mode adds Presence and Harmonic Drive for a brighter, more open character on vocals and instruments. ADAT optical input lets you expand your channel count as your studio grows, and high-headroom conversion captures every detail up to 24-bit/192kHz.

“The 16i16 has a total of 16 inputs with two preamps and the 18i16 has 18 ins, four of which are equipped with preamps. Both have 16 outputs. “The original Scarletts offered superb value for money and very decent audio specs for the price, but not every user was able to achieve good low‑latency performance, and the Mix Control utility needed to work with the larger models was a bit clunky. In 2016, therefore, the focus of the second‑generation Scarletts was on software, with excellent new drivers and an elegant Focusrite Control app borrowed from the Clarett models.”
