Orange Dual Terror – 30W 2-Channel Tube Guitar Amp Head with Power Scaling and FX Loop
Overview
The Dual Terror head from Orange puts up to 30 watts of British tube-amp awesomeness at your disposal - along with an amazing array of tonal versatility. The Dual Terror boasts a fat channel for warmer tones, while the Tiny Terror channel offers ... So I swapped out the crappy Chinese tubes for JJs, added a boss eq to my pedal chain and ditched the terrible Marshall for a fender 1x12 and it transformed this amp into something that is tonally awesome.
This of course wouldn't be a problem if there was an effects loop. Also, for the money, the foot switch should be included. I play guitar, piano and vox in one of my working bands and even though I have finally been able to extract the tone that I love out of it, I think I am going to sell it eventually to buy something with the aforementioned effects loop.
I've been in the market for a small tube guitar head to power a lonely 4x12 Marshall cab in my guitar room, and I recently found its perfect companion in the Orange Dual Terror. From the very first chord I struck, I was blown away by the tight and focused British tube tone. I was extremely excited to hear if I could get that great Orange tone at lower volumes.
The amp did not disappoint - it KILLS at all three power settings! I really like this amp head.. love that it drops down to 15/7 watts. I run it thru a carvin 212 and it sounds outstanding.. plenty loud enough. I've played it at practices at the full 30 watts, with drum tracks running thru a PA.
