Remo makes a similar 14" djembe with a synthetic head and shell. That model may have the sound I was expecting this model to have. However the 14" drum lacks the cool graphics (Adinkra) finish. I have the 14 inch version and it has the same graphics as the 12 inch model. I get a deep bass sound but have to hit the center of the drum with the end of my forearm rather than the palm of my hand.
